To Cos or not to Cos?

I just spent more money than I probably should have on a Kipling bag because I thought it was the right shade of blue to look like the Tardis. I'm going to the Doctor Who Festival in a couple of weeks and I wanted a Tardis-looking bag to take with me cos I'm planning to cosplay as the Eleventh Doctor and didn't want my bag to look too out of place and ruin the effect.

I do wonder if I'm being an idiot for even thinking about cosplaying though. It's a very extroverted thing to do and by its very nature invites attention, which I do not do well with. And I know some people put together amazing outfits, hand-making elements to exact specifications, whereas I've just bought a bowtie and a waistcoat off eBay and am hoping that they look close enough to what Eleven wears that it'll work.

Of course there's still the (very high) possibility that I'll chicken out and just wear my normal clothes anyway. I hope I don't though. I feel like this would be a good step forward for me, confidence-wise, and what better place to do it? It's not like I'll be out of place, there's going to be loads of cosplayers there, and my rubbish outfit will probably work in my favour cos it's not going to attract as much attention as if I had a really good one...

I say go for it, because you never know, maybe it'll lead to you talking to someone you wouldn't have talked to otherwise & making a friend! Plus you'll feel so good about having done something you were afraid of, and you'll be able to revel in that feeling for a long time afterward. Much better than dealing with regret.

Yeah, you're right. I hope that the waistcoat looks good (it should be arriving soon.) I think that if the whole outfit looks at least halfway decent, that'll give me the confidence to actually go ahead and do this thing.
