Oscar Round Up Time

Final Scores:

Caroline: 34
Paul: 35
Random Number Generator: 16

So we didn't lose to a machine, which is good. We don't have to hide our heads in shame. I'm still annoyed at not winning after my awesome start, though. I'm also trying to remember why we decided Visual Effects should be worth three points when all the other middle awards (Sound, Editing, Cinematography, etc) were two. Yes, there is an ulterior motive at play here because if Visual Effects had been worth two as well then Paul and I would have tied.

But enough of my bitterness and onto the most exciting part of this post: The Dress Report!

Ones I liked:

Jessica Chastain

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

Simple. Elegant. And the colour really suits her.

~*~

Amanda Seyfried

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

It's so pretty.

~*~

Jennifer Lawrence

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

Normally I hate dresses that are tight below the waist before flaring out, but I really like this. And she wears it so well.

~*~

Nicole Kidman

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

I really want to hate this dress but I just can't. It looks so good on her.

~*~

Jennifer Aniston

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

This isn't the best picture, but it looked gorgeous when she was walking across the stage.

~*~

Adele

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

Elegant and flattering. I really like it.

~*~

Amy Adams

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

So pretty.

~*~

Corinne Bishop

Corinne Bishop

It's not quite as amazing as I thought when I saw it on TV, but it's still a lovely dress.

~*~

Helena Bonham Carter

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

Queen Helena can be a bit hit and miss with her clothing choices, but I really like this one. It's elegant and pretty and Oscar-appropriate while still in-keeping with her style.

~*~

Kristen Chenoweth

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

Lovely shape and I really like the pattern too.

~*~

Octavia Spencer

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

Very elegant.

~*~

Quvenzhane Wallis

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

Pretty, pretty dress and I am loving the dog handbag. I think more people should take dog handbags to the Oscars.

~*~

Ones I'm Not Sure About

Zoe Saldana

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

It's not bad, but I think there's too much going on.

~*~

Catherine Zeta-Jones

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

Very metallic. Not a great shape.

~*~

Naomi Watts

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

I don't hate it but I don't particularly like it either.

~*~

Charlize Theron

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

I'm not as opposed to this as I was when I first saw it, but I'm still not a fan.

~*~

Sally Field

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

Sometimes it looks ok, but other times it just looks a mess.

~*~

Queen Latifah

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

It's a nice dress. It's just more of a wedding dress.

~*~

Sandra Bullock

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

I don't like dresses with sheer bits. It looks weird.

~*~

Ones I Didn't Like

Jennifer Garner

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

I like the colour, but I hate the style. Those ruffle things on the back are just stupid.

~*~

Halle Berry

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

It looks like a 90s power suit but in dress form.

~*~

Anne Hathaway

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

The positioning of those seams is very unfortunate. And the back looks ridiculous.

~*~

Kristen Stewart

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

There is nothing good about this dress. It's ugly, unflattering and completely ridiculous.

~*~

Jennifer Hudson

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

This nearly scraped into the Not Sure section, but I just... don't like it.

~*~

Melissa McCarthy

85th Academy Awards - Arrivals

This may be the ugliest dress I've ever seen.

And finally we have my Not a Dress pick:

Deborah-Lee Furness

Hugh Jackman

You go, Deboarah-Lee. If you want to wear a suit to the Oscars you wear a suit to the Oscars! Also that's a very nice accessory you have on your arm there

Phew, that's a close one! And why did we decide to give visual effects three points...?

And I think Jennifer Lawrence is my favourite dress!

I DON'T KNOW! WHY?! WHY DID WE DO THIS?! THIS DECISION IS GOING TO HAUNT ME FOREVER. ON MY DEATHBED MY LAST WORDS WILL BE 'WHY DID WE GIVE VISUAL EFFECTS THREE POINTS?' AND EVERYONE WILL BE CONFUSED AND THINK IT'S SOME DEEP, DARK MYSTERY AND MAYBE IT'LL BE THE START OF A NOVEL WHERE A PLUCKY YOUNG NURSE IS INTRIGUED AND STARTS TO INVESTIGATE THE MYSTERY AND SPENDS ALL HER FREE TIME FOLLOWING LEADS AND TRYING TO WORK OUT WHAT I MEANT UNTIL SHE FINALLY TRACKS DOWN THIS POST AND EVERYONE IS BITTERLY DISAPPOINTED AND WRITES ANGRY REVIEWS BECAUSE THEY CARED DAMMIT, THEY CARED AND THIS IS WHAT THEY GET? THIS IS WHAT THEY GET?!?!? FUCK THIS!

And yes, Jennifer Lawrence looked really pretty. The dress even looked good when she fell over going up the steps to accept her award.
